Flying Fish Swim School History

The Zoomers Experience was born when Co-Founder Scott Hobson realised the demand for quality swim instruction after teaching swim lessons at a Community Swimming Pool in the summer of 1999.

He became increasingly busy with customers, and the swim school business grew steadily throughout that summer. He pursued the passion by growing the swim school from 400 kids to over 900 children over a 4 year period as swim school manager and head coach. In the summer of 2005, Scott was given an opportunity to work with and develop a swim school here on the Sunshine Coast and taking multiple swimmers to state and national levels all while building the depths of the infant age group which came naturally.

Scott, again, realised the great need for quality swim instruction as he regularly accumulated waiting lists and his clientele grew to record-breaking numbers for the pool by summer’s end. In 2007 the Facility management pathway took hold at one of Australia’s most renowned premier pools and Scott was able to see first-hand just what was required to manage volume but the quality of the lessons was lacking on a day to day approach and he became frustrated at watching it unfold without immediate control.

So, with the help of his wife Tammy, Co-Founder of Zoomers Swim School, they began researching the swim industry in late 2013. Learning from other swim school owners and operators before beginning the development of their business plan. In early 2016, they created the ideals and systems that Zoomers now use and improves upon to this day, and it was also at that time that they dreamt up their fun and friendly feel, all from the living room of their home.

After the three years of research, and a lot of hard work, Tammy & Scott opened Zoomers Swim School on the Sunshine Coast, on June 8th 2020. They opened with over 400 students enrolled which was passed on from the wonderful Flying Fish Swim School team owned and operated by Nicola & Peter and all their loyal and wonderful staff.
